Based in our Crisp Bros. facility we led Tasmania’s steel fabricators and detailers with the installation of AutoCAD in 1989 and continued to show the way by upgrading to Tekla Structures, a 3D steel modeling program, in 1998. In 2013 with the addition of our marine facility we added Rhino, Maxsurf & Multi frame to the software suite to advance our design abilities.

Design & Detailing

Rozelle Shared Path Bridge

The automated shop drawing production from a Tekla ‘model’ has resulted in near faultless projects since its inception. We have a direct electronic link, from the ‘3D model’, with profile cutting facilities saving time and eliminating errors in plate cutting.

Based in our facility at Margate, our marine design team use a combination of software including Rhino, Maxsurf, Multiframe& ACAD to design, engineer and detail an array of different type of vessels, all unique to suit their required purpose.

We have recently invested in a 3D Trimble Laser scanner and 3D point cloud software. By using this to our advantage we are able to site measure those hard to get to areas from the ground areas that may have previously needed additional equipment or people to reach, making this a very cost effective and accurate solution.

The far-reaching capabilities of this technology and our highly skilled staff allow us to specialise in a wide range of steel work including highly involved architectural designs to mechanical installations including conveyors and plate work to boats and barges tailor made for their intended use.

By using this array of 3D modelling software, our detailers, architects and designers are able to assist other engineers and architects with the design of complex projects.
